The auction is for the original, modern fresco painting pictured below of Madonna and Child in Italo-Byzantine style (ca. 13th century).

About the fresco:

The fresco was painted in Italy using the same technique as that of the Medieval and Renaissance masters. It was executed in earth pigments on freshly laid (“fresco”) lime plaster which fuses the colours with the wall surface. The fresco was then peeled away from the wall onto canvas using a centuries-old preservation method. The painting is on a canvas stretcher ready to be hung framed (not included) or unframed. Auction Format and Information

• The Fresco Painting will be on view from 10-13 December at The Art Fair, Nora Dunne Gallery,  52-54 Kimmage Road West, Dublin 12. (Hours: Thurs. Opening Reception, 6-9pm, Fri-Sun, 11am-7pm) Contact auction@ariverofdesign.com for further details.
  

• Minimum Starting Bid: Euro 100.00

• Bids should be sent to auction@ariverofdesign.com  Valid bids must include your name, address, & contact telephone. Bidders' details will not be disclosed.  The winning bidder may opt to not have their name disclosed.

• The auction ends at 5pm on Sunday, 20 December 2009.

• The winning bidder will make payment directly to the Sandymount Matero Friendship Programme.
